Our campuses

Our campus is where it all happens. It's a place for you to collaborate, to discover new things, to share your ideas - and to take them to the next level.

Our campus is your campus

Hereford College of Arts is rooted in a rich, 170-year-old history of supporting new generations of artists to reimagine the world around them.

Our campuses embody that. You will have amazing access to industry-standard facilities and kit, and you will join a community of artists finding new ways to use it.

This is a place to show your work, to develop your ideas and to use all the tools you want to make your mark.

Space to play (and why it matters)

In order to develop your practice as a artist or a designer, and your ideas as a person, you need room explore. You need space to try, to experiment and innovate and shape and adapt - and at times to abandon.

It is through playing with ideas that you develop the skills to identify and hone the good ones - whether that's on your own, or through collaboration. And it's through play that you build an endless vocabulary of influences and approaches that you will draw on throughout your career.

Our campuses and our approach create space to do this. Any student can access any workshop or studio on their campus, and any student can get specialist technical support on how to use the tools.

We don't gatekeep certain equipment to final year students, and we keep group sizes at a level where you don't have to compromise on your experience.

A campus for inspiration and innovation

Get access to hi-tech kit and contemporary, industry-standard workspaces - alongside the beautiful, high-ceilinged, open-plan studio spaces on College Road's historic campus.

You can move between antique print presses, risograph duplicators and 3D printers without leaving the building. Our resources are organised to give you full access to different disciplines, and set-up to enable collaboration with other students.

Whether you are passionate about embracing the craft of traditional techniques or exploring new ways of making and working - our campus is designed for you to do it.s

Facilities staffed by technical specialists

We are proud to employ a team of highly-skilled technical staff to support your practice.

They lead introductory sessions to get you comfortable in each of specialist workshops, and work with you throughout your time at HCA to develop advanced skills or to trial new techniques.

Our technicians are an incredible resource that can help you unlock new interests, gain real insight across different disciplines and help provide a level of individual support and guidance on your projects.

A sustainable site

We have committed to being a zero carbon college by 2030.

A big part of that is our campus. We encourage students to consider the reuse of materials and active transport methods - as well investing in recycling and improving our site to reduce our carbon footprint.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by nature in Herefordshire, and support initiatives that encourage biodiversity on campus - such as No Mow May and student gardening projects.

Access to everything

Every artist is an individual - and we all have individual needs. Our campuses are accessible to all, and we are committed to finding new ways to ensure our site remains welcoming and easy-to-use for all visitors, staff and students.

Everything is where I need it to be here. I've got the workshops just there in another building, I've got support from tutors - but also I'm just very comfortable here now and I feel like I can just get into a mindset and create a lot of work.
