On Monday 21st January student went to Derby Theatre to take part in workshops delivered by a variety of Applied Theatre practitioners including Andy Watson, MBE, artistic director of Geese Theatre (working with offenders ) Tony MacBride of Cardboard Citizens and Tim Wheeler of Mind the Gap (England’s largest learning-disabled theatre company). There were also papers from academics as well as the artistic director of Derby Theatre, Sarah Brigham, and an extract of Maison Foo’s A Thing Mislaid, a production devised from interviews with refugees and asylum seekers in Derbyshire. So lots of food for thought as HCA PA students begin their own project ‘Creating a Performance’ aimed at creating a socially conscious piece of theatre
