Welcome to week two of our Golden Ticket themed blogs, we hope you enjoyed last week’s blog centred around culture in Herefordshire, this week we thought we would look at some of the great activities you can  you can do Indoors.

Hereford is known for being an area of stunning natural beauty, but we wanted to highlight some of the great stuff that’s going on indoors too. Many of these places are busy preparing to reopen and we are sure looking forward to welcoming you!

You might be happy taking some time to relax and enjoy a good book but If keeping fit is your thing Hereford has a great selection of independent gyms as well as those more well-known national gym chains. You will find The Point 4 directly opposite the campus, which makes it super convenient if you want to smash out a gym session or attend a Pilates class in between studying. The Studio also offers a book by app service using Gymcatch, making it easy to manage what and when you want to train.  As well as a fully equipped gym and some great fitness classes, Halo Leisure also offers indoor activities including Trampolining and racket sports, such as Badminton and Squash. If you want something a little more competitive, you might want to try out The Combat Academy, who offer training in Jiu Jitsu, Kick Boxing, MMA and everything in-between.

Indoor climbing is popular in Hereford, and we have two great climbing centres for you to try out. Green Spider Climbing (above) is just a short bike ride across the city and always has friendly staff and great music playing. Just a 5 minute walk from the campus you will find The Boulder Barn, a bouldering and climbing centre with great coffee and a licensed bar, which offers a student deal every Wednesday.

For those coming to study Preforming Arts with us, the Pentabus Young Company is a must. With a year-round programme of workshops for those aged 16-25, you will get the chance to meet leading industry professionals, learn new skills and share experiences with other young emerging artists and creatives. If Dance is your passion 2 Faced Dance (above) company are a cutting edge group who produce the most original productions, and rehearse from the old court in the city centre.

Of course not everyone wants to spend their free time exercising or taking part in an activity. They are great ways to meet like-minded people but you can also enjoy a much slower pace, exploring some of the  galleries we mentioned last week or enjoying coffee with a friend in one of our independent coffee shops (this is a theme in a few week’s time!). There are plenty of clubs to get involved with in Hereford and our Student Union will be happy to let you know what is happening at HCA and also help sign post you to some of the local clubs that meet regularly to exchange ideas and share knowledge over a coffee or beer!

If all of the above sounds a little too intense for you, why not drop in to a yoga class with The Hereford Yoga Centre and rebalance yourself.
