Craft on the Outside is an exhibition that brings together site-specific artifacts designed and built to define a sense of place. This collaboration between the National Trust’s Weir Garden and Hereford College of Art’s BA (Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts & BA (Hons) Jewellery Design students, will showcase myriad creative responses to this beautiful environment, for the very first time.

Private View: Canapes and drinks Friday 24 May from 6pm. Please RSVP to theweir@nationaltrust.org.uk.

Exhibition open from Saturday 25 May – Sunday 28 June.

In responding to the brief, the students were asked to reflect upon the Weir’s history, hidden stories, the landscape, natural history and ecology. They also acknowledge the functions of the space, as a working garden, an educational resource and as a stunning visitor destination.

In developing this project, we have worked closely with Visitor Experience Officer, Christopher Strong and Head Gardener, Mikko Moran to plan and organise of this event.

Chris Mikko and a handful of National Trust volunteers have helped every step of the way, spending several days working with the students, sitting in on presentations and taking time, on site, to support student research towards ideas development.
