Fine Art students will be working under a professional lead artist to design, craft and install sculptures for a new trail along a ridge path in the idyllic Buckholt Wood near Monmouth.

Five new works will be made in response to the location, and its history as an Iron Age hill fort, in a partnership project funded by the National Lotttery.

The commissions are open to current and recent BA and MA Fine Art students, and will be selected based on their creative ambition, their approach to sustainability, their response to the content of the site and how successfully the work communicates ideas.

There is a set artist fee of £200 and materials budget of £300, however artists will also be able to make use of materials sourced from the site itself.

The deadline for submissions is 11 October, with a site visit planned of 2 October. Production and installation will happen in November.

If you want to find out more about the project, contact the Head of School, School of Fine Art, Dr Daniel Pryde-Jarman below.
