The first talk will feature celebrated visual artist Hetain Patel and take place on Thursday 20th February.
His recent work has seen him bring hundreds of people together to share the fruits of their hobbies in a former Wetherspoons pub - with Patel exhibiting alongside cabinets of K-pop memorabilia and painted pebbles.
It’s a project that follows a theme of his work - finding common ground, and common references, in a time when people are feeling more and more isolated.
The series features artists from a dynamic range of backgrounds, from US prisons and forensic hospitals, role-player games creatorsThe monthly events will all take place on Thursday evenings (6pm start) at our College Road campus.
The aim of the series is to start a conversation about the huge impact art can have in making our society more connected - to each other, to nature and to ourselves.
It will give regional artists, individuals and organisations the opportunity to hear first-hand from renowned practitioners on how they can build in ‘care’ as a cornerstone of their projects - and start to shape the world around them.
All events will invite audience questions and discussion following the main talk or panel discussion, and a paid bar will be open after the event.
Tickets to all events are free, but it is advised you book ahead to ensure you get a place as numbers are limited.
