David has a BSc (Hons) and DPS in Ergonomics from Loughborough University, and a PhD from the University of Plymouth in 1997 in Design History. He has managed seven curated art galleries, and been a Trustee and Director of several creative and regeneration-linked organisations and charities.
As the Vice Principal for Further Education at Hereford College of Arts, I feel very lucky to witness our college level students begin their creative journeys with us.
I am an educational leader with over 20 years’ experience in Arts education. I am intensely committed to delivering a high quality and personally fulfilling educational experience. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of education to transform peoples lives.
Stevie’s journey with HCA has been transformative and multifaceted. Beginning as an FE music student, she immersed herself in the vibrant creative environment at HCA. This experience was so impactful that Stevie transitioned from student to educator, her long-standing relationship with HCA allowing her to consistently deliver positive contributions.
Gillian has been teaching Movement and Dance on Performing Arts courses at Further and Higher Education level for over 20 years in London and now Hereford. She sees her student’s progress to perform on TV, the West End and in theatres around the UK with touring companies.
Scott is a motion designer producing motion graphics, animation and 3D work for film and television. In 2019, Scott won a BAFTA for his work on the BBC series ‘Suffragettes’ with Lucy Worsley.
Innes is an award-winning graphic designer, passionate about design education. Currently working freelance for a number of UK design agencies he previously ran his own Graphic and Media design company which specialised in delivering personal, social and health education solutions through media arts projects.
Nicola joined as Jewellery Design lecturer in January 2024, and has taught on HCA's silversmithing short-courses since 2020. Nicola graduated in 2015 with a first class bachelor's degree in contemporary design, and has held her contemporary jewellery business since; working for galleries and to commission alongside teaching.
Ella is an award-winning designer maker who loves materials and is passionate about delivering student-centered creative education. She believes the world needs creative thinkers and designers who recognise and respond to environmental, social, and economic issues to enable us to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
Dr Jonathan Whitehall is an artist who works principally with video, drawing and text. He trained at Goldsmiths, University of London (BA Fine Art), the University of Leeds, (MA Feminism and the Visual Arts) and completed his PhD by practice at the Royal College of Art.
Celia completed her Fine Art degree at Central St Martins and her Masters at Cardiff School of Art and Design. Celia’s work explores place, memory and identity, and is often walk based and collaborative. Current areas of interest include the post-industrial landscape, hauntology and failure.
Mark has been a practicing artist since gaining his degree from Middlesex University in 1983. He was awarded his Master's Degree from UWIC in 1994. He has taught at HCA since 1996, being responsible for a sculptural input to both the BA (Hons) and the MA in Fine Art
After completing a Fine Art degree at Maidstone College of Art, Mandy started studio as part of the Metropolitan Wharf collective in London and taught at Chelsea School of Art. She moved to Wales in 1991 and has lectured at HCA, University of Gloucestershire and University of Hertfordshire.
Dr Daniel Pryde-Jarman is an artist, curator and writer who has taught art and design subjects at several Universities, including the University of Brighton and Coventry University. He holds Masters degrees in Fine Art and Critical Writing & Curatorial Practice, and completed a practice-based PhD in Curatorial Practice in 2013.
