Flett Bertram is a skilled textile designer with broad industry experience across embroidery, weave, and printed textile design. She holds a BA (Hons) in Surface Textiles, specializing in Embroidery, from London College of Fashion (2010) and an MA in Mixed Media Textile Design from The Royal College of Art (2014). During her studies, Flett received the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Hedley Foundation scholarship, and was selected for Texprint, with her work showcased at Premier Vision in Paris, where she lived and worked for several years. She also won the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery.
Following graduation, Flett began her career as an embroidery trainee at Alexander McQueen and continues to freelance for the brand. She worked with luxury fashion houses such as Chanel, spending five years as an embroidery designer at their Lesage atelier. Subsequently, she moved to Switzerland to lead the printed textiles department at Jakob Schlaepfer, a globally acclaimed textile innovator. During her time there, she created textiles for major brands such as Fendi, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, and Comme des Garçons.
Since joining HCA in 2022 as the BA (Hons) Textile Design course leader, Flett has shared her extensive industry knowledge with students, encouraging innovation in material and textile development. She continues to freelance as an embroidery designer, working on projects in Paris and London, and contributes to the King’s Foundation Embroidery Fellowship in partnership with Chanel, supporting aspiring embroidery designers.
