There are a range of accommodation options available to match your budget and your personality.

You can choose from studio-style living or private rooms in the newly-built student housing, designed specifically for arts students. Or you can explore private rented options, which on average rate as significantly cheaper than in nearby cities like Bristol, Birmingham or Cardiff.

Wherever you choose to base yourself, our Student Experience team will be here to support you.

Hereford is a safe, walkable and vibrant riverside city, and as an HCA student you will be joining a connected community you can truly make your own.

With free electric busses and some great indoor and outdoor markets, the city is also a really affordable place to live as a student - letting you savee money without having to sacrifice on your student experience.

Rented accommodation

With a compact city-centre, there is a great range of private accommodation available within walking-distance of HCA’s campus.

Some students move into private rented accommodation in their second- or third-years - often as a group - others rent from Day 1.

Finding the right accommodation for you is an important part of your experience as a student. Renting privately can give you more flexibility to find your perfect pad.

Renting a room (or a house or flat) can seem like a daunting experience if you’re doing it for the first time, especially if you are not familiar with the area. Our Student Experience team can support you with advice and tips on how to handle the process, and a point of contact once you are moved in.

At HCA we are not able to arrange private accommodation on your behalf, but the following websites are a great place to start looking for rental opportunities:

Alternatively you may want to register with a local lettings agent. Once you tell them your budget, and any other requirements, they can send through any new listings as soon as they become available.

Our Student Experience lead Alice Linforth has written a set of Top Tips when thinking about renting privately - check them out here.

FAQs

City Heart Living starts taking applications in the early Spring.

Once you apply we will send you through all the details you need to start booking your room or arranging a tour.

HCA doesn't manage Station Approach so we never want to say that we guarantee you can get a place - however if you apply early in the application cycle it is almost certain that this will not be an issue.

If you are making an application in July or August options may be more limited. Even if you are unable to secure your first choice in accommodation, we have an arrangement with another student housing facility - or we can help advise you on private renting options, which many students use.

All students can apply to live at Station Approach, as long as they are 18 at the time they start the course. This means Foundation students and post-graduate students are eligible - although the majority of the rooms are occupied by undergraduate students.
